Nursery / School Visits
Unlock a world of creativity with our Messy Play sessions designed specifically for schools and nurseries, those with SEND or Sensory Processing Difficulties.
Our nursery / school sessions are tailored for nursery and primary school children, those with SEND and Sensory Processing Difficulties.

Our engaging activities promote exploration, self - expression, and fine motor development in a safe, supportive environment.
Here are some key benefits of messy play, especially for SEND children and those with sensory processing difficulties:
1. **Sensory Exploration**: Engages multiple senses, helping children become more comfortable with different textures, smells, and colours.
2. **Fine Motor Skills**: Encourages the development of hand-eye coordination and dexterity through activities like pouring, scooping, and molding.
3. **Creativity and Imagination**: Provides opportunities for self-expression and imaginative play, allowing children to create freely.
4. **Social Interaction**: Promotes collaboration and communication as children play together, fostering friendships and teamwork.
5. **Emotional Regulation**: Offers a therapeutic outlet for emotions, helping children manage stress and anxiety in a playful environment.
6. **Confidence Building**: Allows children to take risks and try new things, boosting their self-esteem and resilience.
7. **Cognitive Development**: Encourages problem-solving and critical thinking as children explore and experiment with different materials.
8. **Physical Development**: Enhances gross motor skills through movement and active play, contributing to overall physical health.
Messy play is not just fun—it's a powerful tool for growth and development!
Here are some specific benefits of messy play for children with sensory processing disorders:
1. **Sensory Integration**: Helps children learn to process and integrate sensory information, improving their ability to handle various stimuli.
2. **Desensitization**: Gradual exposure to different textures and materials can reduce sensitivity and anxiety around sensory experiences.
3. **Self-Regulation**: Provides a calming and engaging way for children to explore their sensory preferences, helping them learn to manage their responses.
4. **Increased Tolerance**: Encourages children to experiment with a range of sensory inputs, building tolerance over time.
5. **Focus and Attention**: Engaging in messy play can enhance concentration and attention span as children immerse themselves in the activity.
6. **Emotional Expression**: Offers a non-verbal outlet for emotions, helping children express themselves in a safe and creative manner.
7. **Social Skills Development**: Encourages interaction with peers, promoting communication and social skills in a low-pressure setting.
Messy play can be a vital tool for supporting sensory processing and enhancing overall well-being in children.
During a session
On arrival your staff will escort your children to our Monkeys Rooms (located up a flight of stairs).
Children will be asked to come wearing old clothes they don't mind getting painty/gooey and to bring new clothes, towel/flannel and wipes. All shoes, coats and belongings can be stored in our hallway.
Our class leader will greet you and explain the areas we have to explore.
Each week there will be 4 new trays filled with a variety of multi sensory messy play, these will be themed to fit that weeks theme.
In our adjoining room we have a free painting area where children can explore paint and mark making.

Our sessions last 45 minutes and after this time, our class leader will provide a wash area for your children to use. Our class leader will start cleaning the larger space so your children can change if need. We do not encourage children to wear overalls (unless their individual needs require) as this can hinder the sensory experience.
Our sessions can be booked as single sessions or as a block. We suggest around 6-8 children to ensure there is enough space for children to explore fully.
